The USATF New Enlgland (MA, NH, RI, VT) Junior Olympic Championship meet runs at Fitchburg State University on Saturday, June 23. (ME 6/30 and CT 6/16 have separate meets).
Competition is in 2 year age groups based on year of birth, and the oldest division includes those that don’t turn 19 before the National meet.
Top 8 finishers in each event qualify for the Region I meet on Long Island (Mitchell Field, site of the 1990 Goodwill Games) July 6-8.
Top 5 from Region I qualify for the National meet July 23-29 in Baltimore MD. That’s as close as the Nationals will get to New England for some time.
While it may not be for those who have already had long seasons, it’s an excellent opportunity for those younger athletes to compete with those in their own age group, as well as for those who may be new to track, who have had a shorter season, or who are looking to work on new or technical events outside the HS season.
Entry is online only, and closes at midnight Wednesday, June 20 .
