Shore Conference WOW!

The 3rd fastest time ever on the Ocean County Park course before today was 15:13. Today CBA averaged something like 15:08. They had a 1 - 5 spread of 7 secs. Top 9 runners in race had a spread of maybe 9-10 secs ranging from 15:03 - 15:12ish. The winner…Tom O’Neil outkicking Jack Boyle by one sec. Great race with a huge pack for much of the race.

We put a quick video up just covering the top 30ish on The Track Show. We caught the start, the 800, 1.5 miles, 2.3 miles and the finish. The girls race had a nice pack for most of the race with danille Leavitt winning in just under 18:00.

Pretty impressive. I know it is a fast course but if above is accurate (which I am sure it is) that is considerably faster than last year. At least 9 runners faster than last year’s winner.

This is insane.

CR is 15:01 by Mazzacarro.

Forys ran 15:05 (albeit in a semi-controlled effort).

CBA had 6 guys run under 15:20, they’ve got a legitimate shot of having 6 guys run under 16:00 at Holmdel.

Most impressive.

Just looking through the complete results…even better day for CBA.

2 years ago, Lambert called the Shore Conf. performance by CBA that year one of the best days in any program had, as in the 3 races they set 6 course records…(3 individual, 3 team.)

This year, they “only” got 5 course records. But the team records they completely destroyed.

Varsity averaged 15:08.67; prior record was 15:26, by the 2011 CBA team. The 2010 team avg’d 15:32.6. Before 2010, the fastest team average was 15:45.7 by the 1999 CBA team.

The JV avg’d 16:17, beating the 2010 team’s 16:24 avg. Drew Reda ran 16:06, besting TJ Mullen’s 16:08 from the 2010 race. (they took the first 8 spots, and 10 out of the top 12)

I’m not even sure what to make of the freshman race. The prior course record was 10:11 by McClemens in 2010. This year’s team avg’d 10:13, with 2 guys under 10:00, Blaise Ferro running 9:53. (took the top 7, and 10 of the top 13) Old 5 man average was 10:41, a team with McClemens, Rooney and Bogan (all guys who ran on this year’s varsity CR)

The only guy not to set a CR was Jack Boyle…within 2 seconds of Mazz’s CR.

Incredible day.

Edited for correct times.

I think you are off by a minute on some.

What CBA did yesterday is so epic I think some need a perspective.

They avg’ed 15:08 not 16:08

If you add what is considered by most to be 40-45, add 50 if you like

Worst case: They go 16:01 for 5th at Holmdel and 16:19 for 6th

Just incredible stuff

#7

Whoops, thanks for that, yeah 15:08.

BTW, CBA’s #7 guy yesterday, Josh Kruppa, ran 15:36.

He’s already run 16:22 this year at Holmdel.

Only a sophomore, this is his first year running xc - played soccer last year.

#8

I’m sorry , it is just insane. all State type guys in any other year could not make their top 5-6

#9

Yeah, this team is simply TOO good. 15:08.6?? If CBA can manage to avoid late season fatigue, they will run through the season untouched. Just a remarkable program. Nice to see good people rewarded fpr their hard work.

#10

not only are they unstoppable this year but no reason to think they won’t repeat this success for the next 3-4 years down the road with that great freshman class they have
