Imagine if the Northeast states did that to all the athletes competing at NIN and NSIC.
It amazes me in this day of $99 flights and huge national meets that there are still rules prohibiting athletes from racing outside of state borders. People will sit there and say “well rules are rules”, but instances like this should be when they sit down and ask does this help the sport and its participants grow, or hurt them?
EDIT: Just read the article more in depth. I understand the whole sanctioning process, but the rule still sucks to me and I stand by my statement that rules should be considered as to whether they genuinely are protecting athletes or hurting them.
