David Verburg - 45.06

This will probably be otherwise overlooked in result reporting but at the CAA championships this weekend George Mason junior David Verburg ran well under the Olympic A standard of 45.3 running 45.06 after going 45.62 in the prelims.

GMU’s site says he was 18th last year at NCAA’s in the 400, and his season best in 2011 was 46.09. Quite a considerable improvement, hard to discount him now as a potential Olympic team member. From what I could find on T&FN’s site it would put him second in the US in 2012 time-wise after Wariner and ahead of Nellum.

That is a huge PR. Wow. Trick now is to do it again. Good sign he was able to run 45.6 in the heats and then this though.

Greg Haughton probably the best GM 400m man. Lot of great 400m guys out of schools like GM.
