#2

Interesting that West Bend East and West share the same physical building, and East is hosting one of the Regionals, yet West has to travel (allbiet 10-15 minutes) to Slinger for Regionals.

#3

Probably closer to 20 minutes, but yes, that is interesting!

#4

4/7 bump

#5

If bosley is going to triple at sectionals it will be very difficult. First of all I’m confused why homestead is in a sectional with Oshkosh and Neenah etc vs Nicolet and whitefish bay but assuming the above is correct. Bosley can not just cruise in the 1600 and 800 and then in the 3200 there are 5 guys who can run sub 9:20 in this sectional and possibly 6. I mean if bosley ran for third in the mile he would probably be fresh going into the 800, the 800 may be faster than he likes given there are some studs in that race. bosley can handle that 800 field but he may have a hard time controlling the tempo of that race. then the 3200 has some of the states best and extra qualifiers are likely. It may be too risky to try the triple in this sectional given the number of studs in the 3200. I guess let’s see if scherer and Schnoor are healthy when outdoors starts as those two would make that race very difficult off a triple if they are both 100 percent and you know meinke won’t take it easy on a tired bosley. Am I reading this sectional correct?

1600
Bosley
Meinke
Ferron
Cale from slinger
Potentially scherer
Schnor plus Germantown has another good miler
Czarnecki

800
Sheboygan south runner who ran 1:56 last year.
Slinger has an excellent half miler who ran 2:01 flat yesterday and I think would have run 1:59 if he was seeded correctly.
Drihan from Germantown one of states top returners
Bosley
Potentially Czarnecki who ran 2 flat as a freshman

3200
meinke
Schnoor
Bosley
Scherer
Cale grothenhaus slinger (ran 9:41 at Madison west relays)
Ferron potentially or he would be a player in the 800
Neenah May have a second or even third quality runner in the 3200 based on their cross success as they had a nice top 4. So far nothing magical out of the other 3 guys yet but one may emerge

#6

The Hartford Sectional used to swing west to Arrowhead instead of north and sneak up on us as far as difficulty went in the earlier part of this decade. I am sure the coaching branches voiced their opinions about the relays especially.

#7

Also a couple interesting questions regarding Milwaukee Vincent:

  • does Vincent have a new facility?
  • how often does a regional host also host the sectional?

#8

I don’t know the Vincent answer or the regional sectional answer but I don’t think it’s much of an advantage to run on home track unless it has an unusual finish line (middle of track etc): I can say Greenfied has a relatively new facility (if not completely new) that I heard is very fast which is probably why they are hosting their sectional this year. In addition, they are hosting a new meet May 2nd that will include Elijah Johnson among others on the men’s side and Amari Brown and all the king ladies among others on the girls side so the top male and female sprinters in the state will be on showcase looking to lay down fast times on a fast track at the beginning of May, so a good opportunity to see some of the top city talent outside of the city. Interestingly it’s possible the 3 best 400 runners in class a may all be in that greenfield sectional. Potter (who could also run the 800), Ethan king (who could also run the 800) and the Franklin senior Snelson (who also could run the 800 given his brother is the former 800 state champ just a few years back and he has more stength than raw speed as well- he just anchored Franklin to tfa 4x400 championship this weekend). If all 3 run the 400 and 800 than you will need to run 1:55 to qualify out of this sectional or better as there will be a few other guys who can run sub 1:57 in that mix potentially.
