Former all-state 800m runner for Adam’s Friendship now at Ripon has improved a great deal since high school season. He recently ran a 1:50.86 against Luke Pawlaczyk of Brooks/Power Bar and Austin Mudd of Wisconsin.

Has Ripon ever had a runner even close to this fast? Is he a contender in D3? He sits #5 overall in DIII, one spot behind Sean Royer, two spots ahead of Dan Sullivan.

He still doesn’t live up to the legendary status of former Ripon runner Mark Nolan

Ripon has never had an 800 meter runner anywhere close to that. Previous school records were somewhere around 1:58 (indoors and outdoors).

Ripon did have a distance runner in Dave Billings (college class of 2006) who was a very good cross country runner (2x national qualifier), and finished with a 5k PR of 14:41, which he ran indoors at UW-Oshkosh, winning by a large margin.

The crazy thing is that this guy has only broken 1:54 a handful of times, yet has a 1:50 PR. I remember 2 years ago watching the UW home meet the week before Big Tens when he dropped his PR from 1:57 all the way to 1:51.01.

QFE. i remember him being a very hard nosed racer and it always seemed when he gets in a fast race with the right competition he does really well.
