Well **** you T&FN, guess the conference with three of the last five individual champions doesn’t count.

Big South Oct 27; Rock Hill, SC

They also missed the NEC, not like many people care though lol

#4

The Summit League is in Rochester, MI. Not MN.

Big positive results for Princeton men, Cornell women at Heps. Princeton’s men beat the rest of the field combined, including #10 Columbia. Cornell women came close to doing the same thing. Nationally ranked Yale way back in 5th, missing their #1.

Can someone explain to me in this day and age of budget cuts/restrictions etc

That the MAAC Conf could possibly hold their XC Championship in Florida? Without a single conf team South of Md. and there is one team from there, Md,.Loyola?

240 air fares plus about 30 coaches? Plus Lodging?

did Disney/ESPN give them a huge break?

How is that even remotely affordable ?

I am surely missing something

#10

Must’ve gotten a Disney/ESPN deal. The meet was broadcast on ESPN3… not sure why the MAAC warrants coverage other than that the meet was at the Disney facility.

But you’re right…we live in a dual world of pennywise pound foolish. Cut sports and budgets, but fly afterthought XC teams to to Florida for a meet to show on TV.

saw on the big 10 results that 800 all-american ricky west has moved to PSU for his last year of eligibility. Looks like another high quality runner will under-perform at nationals this year.

Wisconsin ran well, but I’d still bet on Oklahoma State at Nationals. Finnerty and Brill both had good days, but have proven to be question marks. Add in having to run an extra 2km, and I think that it’ll show at Nationals. However I’d like for them to have gotten over past issues and throw together a good showing at Nationals.

Also a nice showing from Bayer.

In other news, my beloved Wolverines pulled out a 2nd. It takes some of the sting out of getting crapped on by Nebraska last night.

#14

Even though I am a die hard Wisconsin fan (as well as an alumni) I can’t disagree with you on Finnerty and Brill. Led by their trio of studs, they will likely be in the top 5 in the national team standings but they’re going to need some supporting acts from the Van Voorhis, Brill and Finnerty group to do anything beyond. I don’t think Van Voorhis is unfit or lacking any ability at this point but I’d be willing to bet that his confidence isn’t where it should be. I suppose that’s part of the game when you go from running club extraordinaire to the big leagues. Michael can no doubt run with the semi-elites he just needs to do it and find that same magic he found at 5000m. Perhaps he had a chip on his shoulder while running unattached and one that enabled him to embarrass those once prized division one recruited athletes. Anyway, what a storyline it would be if he ran the race of his life at NCAAs and scored well enough to lift the Badgers to another win. Brill and Finnerty on the other hand should have all the tools–including the mental component–to do well. But like you said, they’re still question marks which is a sad label for the two great runners.

#15

They might have some sort of contract with them because the MAAC have been doing this for years. They even shut down part of Disney for the post race ceremony.

#16

familiar 'stat name with a nice run.
