Having trouble getting excited about this. “Significant” that it is an American Record, but when you are beating a time by Chip Jenkins and are still slower than runners who most likely have slower 400 and 800 bests I’m just not ready to jump out of my seat.

Hopefully just a nice tune up for Millrose. I imagine he’ll have WR aspirations now.

Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Loxsom take this down this weekend. He has a best of 1:16.66 from last year and has already run an 800 this season faster than he has ever run indoors. THAT would get me excited.

Sorry if this sounds negative.

#23

I totally agree

and I also would not be surprised to see Loxsom go faster as well

going by at 48.84? that is not a big deal, I will bet Loxsom goes by faster today

#24

Did Harun Abda really run 1:15.86 last year at Big 10 Indoors? Is he American?

#25

Loxsom under the old record as well. did not go faster though I was wrong

Finals
1 Loxsom, Casimir SR Penn State 1:15.79F
2 Hiltner, Jake JR Akron 1:18.93
3 Pryce, J’Lani SR Akron 1:19.80
– Brennan, Ryan SO Penn State DNF

Harun is American…

So King and I miss by .09 or .10 depending on how you slice it. Clearly he has the capability. That said, I think Solomon should bring it down later this season too.

Unfortunately Loxsom misses Milkevics CR as well (1:15.60).

Simply put, the CR should not be faster than the AR.

Nice opener by Centro apart from the placing.

#29

All of the records for this distance are obscure enough that it’s hard to assign any “shoulds” to it.

#30

1 Aman , Mohammed ETH 1:15.60
2 Balla , Musaeb Abdulrahman QAT 1:16.08
3 Borzakovskiy , Yuriy RUS 1:16.27
4 Kitum , Timothy KEN 1:16.43
5 Poistogov , Stepan RUS 1:16.70

(Amos, Aman … what’s the difference)

The B race has Sowinski moving well up the US All time list. I believe that puts him at 5 behind Solomon, Loxsom, Chip Jenkins and Harun Abda.

1 Bosse , Pierre-Ambroise FRA 1:15.63
2 Sowinski , Erik USA 1:15.99
3 Chemut , Anthony KEN 1:16.96
4 Sharmin , Yevgeniy RUS 1:17.45
5 Osmolovych , Olexandr UKR 1:18.40
6 Kozlov , Vitalij LTU 1:18.46

Millrose 600m field:

Kevin Borlee, Belgium (44.56 400m PR last summer)
Julius Mutekanga, Uganda (1:47.04 best last summer, 1:46.30 PR from 2011)
Michael Rutt, 1:45.20
Duane Solomon, no need to list
Jarrin Solomon, Trinidad and Tobago (45.31 400m PR last summer)
Nick Symmonds, no need to list

My one concern is the size of the field. Mutekanga is an exceptionally odd addition. He didn’t run well last year, is not elite with only a 1:46.30 best so how the heck did a Ugandan of that caliber get into this race? You can’t tell me their wouldn’t have been other takers more qualified.

Its an interesting mix of speedy 400 guys and 800m runners. Hopefully someone will lay down a serious time.

AR is 1:15.70 this year by Solomon
WR is 1:15.12 by Nico Motchebon of Germany from back in 1999. Motchebon had an indoor 800 best of 1:44.88 and outdoor PR of 1:43.91 from the Atlanta OG final.

Interesting to note the Borlee actually has the fastest PR coming in at 1:15.65 set on Feb 13, 2011.

#32

They should replace Julius with Cas. Legit AR attempt then if you have #2 as well.

#33

Kevin Borlee out…Taking his place is Erik Sowinski (Viren_is_a_ninja)

#34

Pacer?

#35

I know Matt Scherer is overseas in Birmingham rabbitting an 800 field that includes Kaki so clearly he can’t do it.

Do we really need to go all the way to Uganda to find our pacers now?

I’d heard they have an impeccable sense of timing but the costs to fly him in must have been ridiculous.

Sowinski’s 1:15.99 for earlier this year isn’t to much of a drop.

#36

Hopefully Solomon gets out even harder than last time so either he or one of the other Americans runs fast!

#37

Eric Sowinski is my new hero.

1 Erik Sowinski Unattached 1:15.61 American Record
2 Duane Solomon Saucony 1:16.04
3 Jarrin Solomon Trinidad & Tobago 1:16.19
4 Nick Symmonds Nike 1:16.89
5 Michael Rutt NJ/NY TC 1:17.68
6 Julius Mutekanga New Balance 1:19.10

Maybe he can get a sponsor out of this?

#38

Yes!!!

#39

viren_is_a_ninja with the new AR. Congrats to him. Great to see someone like him work hard and take full advantage of the opportunity given to him.

#40

Honestly the performance of the evening for me, love it when someone can come out and show the studs up like that. Sowinski is quickly proving that he’s a gamer regardless of the level. Just graduated, ya? Or is he a senior now?

Looks mighty promising.
