Saturday 10/16
nothin' goin' on Saturday?

Gerber’s (Wayzata Results, Inc.) doing the timing for the Great Prairie Cross Country championships at Gale Woods on Saturday 10/16. Is that a new hs conference, or is that a college event? I’ve never heard that conference name before, or I’ve forgotten it if I have seen the name before. If it’s a new hs conference, who’s all in it?

chanhassen will not be running full strength at shakopee this week. Just a heads up

OK, looks like it’s an event open to the general public to register & compete. Thanks for the info.

Howard Lake Waverly Winsted takes the Central Minnesota Conference for the third time in five years.

Why didn’t Gemar run? Did Shane Striech win his conference last year too?

Yes, this is the second year in a row Striech has won his conference.

Sweet. 5 more to go.

4, actually. 9th-12th grade.

He is going to have some serious troubles keeping this up though, mainly on his own team. In future years, Jesse Delgado and his younger brother Cole Streich may oust him from his perch.

Waseca is going to be such a fun team to watch these next few years. How often does a team as good as they are be as young as them. Next year they could contend for a State title with thier top four runners being two 9th graders, an 8th grader and a 7th grader.

The Streich boys dad is Jeff Streich, a very respectable runner at Moorhead State in the 1980’s.

I recall Staples-Motley being a pretty young squad when they started their run of championships.

woo Andover!

At first I thought “?!” when EP was beaten so badly, but then I thought “.” after I saw Bartnik didn’t run.

At least we discovered that Wayzata and Edina can beat EP easily when Bartnik doesn’t run (which begs the question of why didn’t he run?). But if Bartnik runs, wins, and the rest of the results are unaffected, then it goes Edina 46, EP 48, Wayzata 52. And if that is the case, then this race says nothing new. Except the concept that maybe Wayzata is actually third, which is a mostly foreign concept…

Wayzata went 5 years in a row (2002-2006) of not qualifying for state, finishing as far back as 5th in 2004. The lesson is how difficult 6AA qualifying can be. When Wayzata qualifies for state, they are almost always a trophy team. To get out of 6AA, you need to be one of the best teams in the state every year.
